WATCH: 'Transgender rights are human rights,' Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin says

During a Pentagon event Wednesday celebrating Pride Month, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said that "transgender rights are human rights" and the U.S. is "safer and better" when all "qualified citizen can serve with pride and dignity." "Now that's real progress," he added. The event also marked 10 years since the repeal of the military's "don't ask, don't tell" policy, which banned openly LGBTQ people from serving and enlisting in the military.
