WATCH: Trump claims paying 'millions' in 2016, 2017 federal income taxes

PBS, 30 Sep 2020
President Donald Trump claimed that he paid "millions of dollars" in federal income taxes 2016 and 2017, a claim that contradicts recent reporting from the New York Times asserting that the president paid $750 in federal income taxes each year. Biden then said that he would eliminate Trump era tax cuts and "invest in the people who in fact need the help." Trump and Biden faced off in their first debate on Sept. 29, in front of a crowd that was dramatically scaled back because of COVID-19. Thirty-five days before Election Day, the candidates covered a range of topics from the pandemic and the economy, to protests over police violence.
