WATCH: Trump says America is 'not a nation of timid spirits' as he accepts nomination

PBS, 28 Aug 2020
President Donald Trump spoke directly to Americans as he accepted his party's nomination at the Republican National Convention. "This is the most important election in the history of our country. There has never been such a difference between two parties, or two individuals, in ideology, philosophy, or vision than there is right now," he said, at the end of a speech that painted a picture of a lawless, radical America under Democratic nominee and former Vice President Joe Biden. The address, which stretched longer than an hour, compared his record in office to Biden's long career in Washington, though he used incorrect data and misstated facts on a number of points throughout the evening. He made an appeal for voters to remember that America was "a nation of fierce, proud, and independent American Patriots." "I want every child in America to know that you are part of the most exciting and incredible adventure in human history. No matter where your family comes from, no matter your background, in America, anyone can rise," he added.
