WE Charity scandal: Scheer says ousting Morneau as Finance Minister won't absolve Trudeau government
CA, 12 Aug 2020
In what may be his final news conference as head of the party, Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer said there are still many questions surrounding the sole-source contract awarded to WE Charity.
Scheer also said, addressing rumors that Finance Minister Bill Morneau may be on the outs, that any change in that portfolio would make no difference in his perception of the government as long as Trudeau himself remains in power.
Two federal cabinet ministers and the country’s top public servant will be grilled Tuesday about how the charity, with close ties to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, wound up administering a $912-million student grant program.
