"We don't deserve this": Women of Afghanistan fight for autonomy
AFP, 16 Jul 2021
Artist Rada Akbar says she feels little hope for the future amid a surge of violence as foreign troops withdraw from Afghanistan after two decades of military involvement. High profile women including media workers, judges and activists are among the more than 200 people who have been assassinated since September -- violence the US and Afghan government blame on the Taliban. Rada and other Afghan women fear that the Taliban’s potential return to power will only bring further violence, and bring about harsh restrictions on the freedom of women and girls.
