Thousands of villagers in Fiji could soon lose their homes as rising sea levels threaten coastal areas of a country where at least 70 per cent of the population lives within 5km (3 miles) of the coast. Residents of Togoru, a small settlement on the south coast of Fiji's largest island Viti Levu, said on December 12, 2022, they had no other option but to abandon their ancestral lands.
