World Cup 2022: Qatar’s stadium cooling technology set to provide pleasant experience

Al Jazeera, 02 Dec 2021
When Qatar was awarded the 2022 World Cup, it promised air-conditioned stadiums to keep players and fans cool.
In the decade since, sustainability and climate change have become hot topics.
In 2010, the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy began collaborating with Qatar University (QU) to design and implement innovative cooling systems for its FIFA World Cup stadiums.
The visionary behind the technology was Saud Abdul-Aziz Abdul Ghani, professor of mechanical engineering at QU.
Abdul Ghani, nicknamed "Dr Cool", was already working on technology to balance the demands of the environment and the comfort of international fans.

Al Jazeera’s Joanna Gasiorowska went to meet Dr Cool at Doha's Al-Bayt Stadium.
