102-year-old former nurse completes 102 laps of local park for NHS charities

Telegraph, 13 Sep 2020
Joan Rich, on her 102nd birthday, completed 102 laps of her local park for NHS charities.

The 102 laps equal over 35 miles which she's completed over a series of weeks.

The money she has raised will pay for projects and medical equipment to support NHS staff, volunteers and patients.

Not only is Joan part of the generation that built the NHS, she was an NHS worker too - first at Hillingdon Hospital, then at Felixstowe General Hospital as an auxiliary nurse in the outpatient department from 1964 to 1978.

Joan says, "Even behind a mask NHS workers make people smile, so let's all smile".
