The coronavirus is especially harsh on elderly people, but a 105-year-old
Indian man and his 95-year-old wife have beaten Covid-19, according to local reports.
Living in India's worst-hit state of Maharashtra, centenarian Dhenu Umaji Chavan and his wife Motabai contracted the virus in March 2021. After 10 days of treatment at a government hospital in Latur district they were discharged on April 4, having tested negative for the virus. The family of the elderly couple hope their recovery offers a glimmer of hope for the nation where cases have surged and nearly 18 million people have been confirmed to have the disease.
